JohnCartan: |
Greetings! Can't stay on too long tonight - haven't even had dinner yet!
|
P King Duk: |
Howdy; me too. (I've got 5 hours to sleep.)
|
JohnCartan: |
So, have you had a chance to think over the smoothing algorithm?
|
P King Duk: |
Got your message the other night, and I think I
understand about enough to give it a try.
|
JohnCartan: |
Great! What about your memory/performance concerns?
|
P King Duk: |
Still there... How would you place the one land spark per hi-res block?
|
JohnCartan: |
Good question.
|
P King Duk: |
OK. If you don't come up with something before I get
around to it, I'll just start at some arbitrary location.
|
JohnCartan: |
I assume halfway along the land edge and right up against it
(if you see what I mean).
|
P King Duk: |
That was my guess, too.
|
JohnCartan: |
You want spark to be adjacent to existing land.
|
P King Duk: |
Right.
|
JohnCartan: |
Are you going to try only clearing about half of the land macro-coordinates?
|
P King Duk: |
Huh? Refresh my memory. Clear half the land macro-coordinates?
|
JohnCartan: |
Instead of replacing an entire land shorline coordinate with a microspark,
you can replace only half of it. This will ensure that at least half of that
coordinate winds up being land.
|
P King Duk: |
The other half stays land?
|
JohnCartan: |
Half land, half undefined.
|
P King Duk: |
Ahh... But will that guarantee ragged coastlines?
|
JohnCartan: |
I think so, but that's what we need to find out.
After all, the micro-continent will involve half a land
coordinate plus ALL of an adjacent sea coord.
|
P King Duk: |
You're right; it might just work.
Unfortunately, I will NOT get to this very soon.
|
JohnCartan: |
Oh well. Archipelago first priority, continued taping second,
Alexander third...
|
P King Duk: |
OK. Anything else, or can I go to bed?
|
JohnCartan: |
Nope. By all means, go to bed!
|
P King Duk: |
OK. See you next Wednesday?
|
JohnCartan: |
Next Wednesday it is! Good night!
