I would like to take issue with your "strange solutions" theory of intelligence.
It seems to me that this would not be an accurate measure of intelligence either on its own, because the ability of a person to come up with strange solutions seems more directly related to the person's level of creativity. It could be a factor in measuring a person's intelligence, but perhaps not the primary one.
