This is ONE OF 3 responses to Vol 14 John 7 ("Nature vs. Nurture (AGAIN)")...
Actually several short comments:
Did you read the Science News Article "Uneven Inheritance" Science News, Vol 138, No1, pg 8-11?
[Editor's note: Yup.]
It might explain an actual genetic base for some homosexuality. It's too bad I can't scan the article, it is very good (especially since I wondered about just the things they described when I was an undergrad!) The article does not address homosexuality; it discusses genetic diseases and a cause from inheriting two of the same chromosomes from one parent, instead of from each parent.
The other comment is on the possible biological advantage of homosexuality. Perhaps, in that it would solve overpopulation. I assume you are aware that humans are not the only animals to engage in homosexual relationships. It is not an unusual behavior. It has been described in manatees, many bird species, canines, rabbits, and bovines.
