I doubt there are more miscarriages. We are just more willing to talk about them. Apparently, it is not uncommon for up to 30% of all first pregnancies to end in miscarriage. It is the same for our domestic animals. The first litters tend to be smaller, dystocias are more common, and usually several in the litter died before parturition.
