This is ONE OF 5 responses to VC 21 Stuart 5 ("A bit more")...
I have a rather ordinary ancestry, I suppose. My descendents are primarily German and Austrian. However, they have been in the country so long that I'm sure I'm a true mutt, a product of many different ethnicities. My brother has traced the family name to the Pennsylvania Dutch in the early to mid 1700's.
Kristin, and the other hand, can be just about anything that she wants to be. She's half me and half Diane -- and Diane is 50% Black, 25% Japanese, and 25% Chinese. That makes Kristin 50% Caucasian, 25% Black, and 25% Asian (if we use the Census codings). We'll never have to be concerned with her being bussed around a school district, since we can categorize in many different ways.
