Okay guys now let's take a look at what you have both said here. First off I would like to mention I agree with both of you to a point; however, I think you are both forgetting about the human nature factor.
John, you are a honest person who has lived a good portion of his life surrounded by individuals who are intelligent and hardworking. You feel that managers should treat people with the respect that they deserve and many times they do exactly that!!!
I have worked in a lot of places to finish school and many of my managers had a bad attitude from their experiences with employees with bad attitudes. While your intelligence may be insulted, I think that you must remember that the average Joe out in the work force will not feel insulted because he/she does not understand a good work ethic. This may not be always true, but I have worked with some real idiots who just didn't realize that they DID NOT work as hard as they claimed to.
By the same token, I think that a lot of managers believe that all their employees are idiots, and the only way out of dealing with jerks like that is to find another job. After all it takes all kinds to make the world go round.
I also want to put in a good word for Drury (then I'll rake her over the coals). I have worked with Drury and when we have had problems with the employees we have had work with us, Drury always pitched in. Now Drury will still clean cages and I have been witness to this fact. (It is done with some grumbling tho' ) Drury does not seem to have forgotten that it is important to pitch in and help when it is necessary.
I have just talked to Drury and despite what she has said in her last voice card, she too belongs to the Losers Club. She was offered an opportunity to buy into the Clinic she works at (and that I thankfully don't work at anymore!) only to have the boss man decide that it is all her fault that there is nothing there for her to buy into!!!
Now I have worked with the Fudge man, and he is definitely difficult to work for. I have a feeling that Drury was getting up on her soap box not only to tell you to get out if you hate your job, but also to tell herself to get out of the job she's in! Only one more year to go Drury until you can pass your boards, hang in there! Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do!
