This is a response to VC 32 Stuart 13 ("I'm at 6's and 7's")...
Stuart:
Your dilemma is a difficult one. It was clear from your card that you understand the essential choice: stay with your current system and fall farther and father behind (you may be the only archipelagoan who can't see Zipples, for example), or upgrade and discover that now your machine can't keep up with your operating system.
System 7 is a memory hog and 4 megs is really not enough to live comfortably (5 is the usual recommended minimum). If only you could afford it, I think your best option is to upgrade your Mac and your operating system in one fell swoop! There are some way cool, souped-up COLOR Macs that can now be had for bargain basement prices.
While you're pondering I should warn you that system 7.5 is now in the chute and ready to ride. And I must admit, I have been thinking lately how nice it would be to distribute a colorized archipelago on high density disks (nearly twice the bang for the same amount of work and postage).
Is this an option?
