Tape Labels

Voice Card  -  Volume 9  -  John Card Number 16  -  Sun, Oct 8, 1989 12:14 AM

This is a response to Vol 9 Paul 7 ("Progress...")...

Paul:

As we discussed on the tape, the new Conquest continent generator will take precedence over the tape labels project. But in the meantime, I have a few questions/comments.

  • Could you be more specific about what you mean by "making it easier" to enter track information on an album card? As you'll recall, my idea was to provide one line per track in a scrolling field on the card.
  • I have a feeling that transferring track information to cassette labels could prove rather sticky. No doubt some track names are too long to fit on one line and some (most?) albums have more tracks than will fit on the label. Perhaps the best the program can do is to try to cram as much information onto the label as it can and then allow you to edit the label before printing. I am open to suggestions.
  • We have been tossing around composers and performers as if they were equivalent for design purposes. Is this valid? Or will you want separate linkages for cases in which the performer is not the composer? This could be trouble...
