This is an atlas of the original starmap. An atlas of the Revised Starmap is also available. You can use this atlas in three ways.

If you have a room or pattern number, you can use the atlas to locate that room on the map. The fastest way to do this is to use the Find command of your browser to search for the three digit room number. For example, to look for room one, choose "Find" or "Find In This Page" from the Edit menu, and enter zero zero one; the browser will scroll down to the appropriate section. Alternatively, there is also a Room Index at the bottom of this page.

If you have identified a particular location on the map and wish to discover what room or pattern is associated with that location, simply scroll down this page to the appropriate microcosm (or use the quick-jump links at the top and bottom of the page) and consult the room chart to the left of the microcosm close-up.

If you wish to experience a journey through the maze itself, you can navigate the map using the arrow buttons at the top right of each microcosm section. From your starting point trace movements within a microcosm by inspecting the close-up. Whenever you need to travel through a macropipe, click on one of the four arrows at the top right. (Remember that in the original map, moving west or east from some microcosms will also shift you north or south by two rows.) To move through the center pipe, click in the center of the four arrows.

This atlas uses standard starmap notation: +Xx or -Xx. Microcosms are numbered with capital letters from A to P starting in the lower left corner. Rooms within each microcosm are numbered with lower case letters from a to p starting at the southern tip. Both a pattern and its inverse share the same diamond-shaped location, one in the upper triangle of the diamond, one in the lower. A plus sign indicates a sun room in the upper diamond. You can only exit a sun room through a white pipe (red in the color version of the map). A minus sign indicates a moon room in the lower diamond. You can only exit a moon room through a black pipe (blue in the color version of the map). For example, to find the pattern number associated with location -Kf, scroll down to microcosm K, find row f in the chart on the left, and look up the number in the second (minus) column.
