It seems that you may be making a faulty assumption here. You should be asking,

"Is Roland an artist?"

Paints and canvas do not an artist make. Successful reviews do not an artist make. A large income does not...

Roland may have fooled the critics. He may have even fooled himself. He DIDN'T fool me.
