So why *didn't* you file 1988 tax returns?

I, too, am smarting from unfriendly IRS letters. Last year I had one source of income, claimed only the standard deductions for witholding purposes - and wound up owing an additional $2800 in taxes on April 15th. A recent communication from the IRS penalized me another $180 for not paying the $2800 in installments last year (back when I still thought I was a Good Citizen). That letter arrived while I was in Boston, with the result that my penalty check will arrive at the IRS late. Now I'm expecting *another* penalty letter - or maybe a "Do Not Pass GO..." card.

Are jail cells wired with electrical outlets for Mac's? Inquiring minds want to know.
