This is a response to VC 21 Yumi 2 ("Japanese Argh !")...

I was able to track down more information on NihongoWare, but it is very "takai" ($623) so I doubt if I obtain it in the near future.

More info:

The course, designed to be completed in 80 - 100 hours, has 10 lessons that feature situations and dialogues based on a business trips two Americans take to Japan. The program doesn't teach how to read or write Japanese, and it doesn't intend to make the learner proficient enough to negotiate in Japanese.

It is designed to help the learner cope with social situations, and also explains many aspects of Japanese culture (e.g., when to bow, how to use Japanese style toilets and baths).

NihongoWare is sold through Hitoshi Nigai, Marketing Manager, Marubeni America Corp., 200 Park Avenue, NY, NY, 10166.
