Thirty year old debate

This is ONE OF 3 responses to VC 22 Roger 1 ("Kennedy again")...

JFK was shot nearly 30 years ago. Since then, we have been treated uncounted versions of conspiracies, plots and the like.

Correct me if I'm wrong (I was pretty young at the time), but wasn't the first story that surfaced something about Oswald being a Communist sympathizer who had spent a number of years in the Soviet Union and was married to a woman from the same country?

Anyway, I'm beyond being too terribly concerned about whether or not there was a conspiracy, or if Oswald acted alone, or any other possibility. The prime actors from that 30 year old event are, for the most part, gone - or not be trusted.

If I had to choose though, I would probably buy the individual argument. I base this upon on article I read 25 years or so ago that claimed that the JFK shooting was an historical recreation of the Abraham Lincoln shooting. The article listed many solid facts to support this argument - I can't remember them all, but here are some of them:

  • The last names of both Lincoln and Kennedy are 7 letters long.
  • The assassins both used three names (John Wilkes Booth and Lee Harvey Oswald), and the combined number of letters in each name is 15.
  • Lincoln had a secretary named Kennedy, Kennedy had a secretary named Lincoln.
  • Booth shot Lincoln in a theater and was captured in a warehouse. Oswald shot Kennedy from a warehouse and was captured in a theater.
There were a number of other "facts" regarding the two shootings, including some comparisons between the two presidents wives, but 25 years is a long time to retain that information. Anyway, you have to agree that these "facts" strongly imply that Oswald acted alone.
