This is ONE OF 3 responses to Vol 13 Drury 9 ("I have a Story")...
This is a tough one. As much as I hate to admit it, the kitty's fate would probably depend on my mood that day. If it wasn't for the traffic I would lean slightly in favor of leaving her behind, but, er, well, uh, was it a CUTE kitty did you say? OH ALL RIGHT! I'll rescue the little nipper. GEEZ!
An aside: I was somewhat alarmed by the casual way you offered to substitute a human child for the kitty in case any of our readers have allergies. Doesn't that change the premise just the wee-est little bit? Does the child have fleas? And what do I tell the authorities when they finally locate the child in my garage? "Well, officer, I just found him playing in traffic and since I already had two at home, I figured 'What's a few fleas?'..."
