This is ONE OF 3 responses to Vol 13 John 10 ("The value of suffering")...
By crackie, John, that was one of the most eloquent, beautiful Archipelago responses of yours or any of us that I've read yet (and there have certainly been plenty of top candidates for the laurels). That sort of response (and Suzanne's before it, and yours and Larry's before that) is a great testimony to the creative push, that sort of creative jump starting of the mind and heart, that Archipelago can engender.
Digression: I think that there were be a great maket for Archipelago in the education field - in the computer classroon of today and the classroom of tomorrow that is quickly approaching. For example, putting Archipelago on the Apple Network would enable a classroom in, say, Michigan to produce an issue of Archipelago and send it off to a classroom in California or Montana. Kids talking and thinking-in-writing to and with each other - Archipelago seems a marvelous vehicle for that. The main Macintosh guy at OSU-Marion where I teach is an education professor who is into that sort of thing. I wonder what he would think of your beautiful creation. . .
But this isn't what I wanted to say in this voice card, so I'll send off another. . .
