This is ONE OF 5 responses to VC 22 John 12 ("Best Voice Card of 1991")...
I had a VERY difficult time picking out my favorite voice cards this year - there were so many excellent cards to choose from. Just skimming through them briefly I found at least twenty that were V*E*R*Y well done.
Creating titles for voice cards is a true art form, and although every member managed to come up with some truly sublime titles, Start still reigns supreme as the master of the art. My favorite is "Roam Dome Snap Hats" - see VC 18 Stuart 7. And I think Janine's "House Blend" deserves honorable mention - see VC 22 Janine 1.
I would like to make a total of five nominations for best card (despite anything I may have said about choosing three). I could have put the first two of these in a separate "Most Moving" category, but that might imply that they were not worthy of the "best" category. In fact these two were the only ones I could remember distinctly without glancing back; they made an indelible mark on me. The other three are also superb and provide a nice sense of balance.
For card of least apparent redeeming value, my nomination is: "HouseWork" - see VC 20 Roger 2. Roger seems to have a knack for starting vast conversation trees of no apparent redeeming value whatsoever. Well done!
Finally, I would like to make special mention of the mystery novel experiment. Although it never really got off the ground, the four responses to the initial installment were quite remarkable and bear re-reading. In fact, I think one of the reasons the whole thing bogged down is that all four responses were so good that we were all a bit overwhelmed. An extra laurel leaf then, for Drury, Paul, Stuart, and Roger.
