This is a response to VC 24 Larry 8 ("Clinton's veep")...
Larry:
I've already got actual money bet with both Roger and Paul that Bush will NOT be re-elected. Since that money is almost as good as gone already, I don't think I can afford to make any more foolish bets. But I'll be happy to speculate.
Bradley, as you say, has taken himself out. Simon is a good man but not exciting enough for anyone outside of Illinois. I wish Clinton would pick Pat Shroeder of Colorado; this would be a great year for a female veep. (Actually, I would rather she was running for president). He could pick Jesse Jackson (but probably figures he needs someone farther to the right). But my guess is Paul Tsongas.
Tsongas surprised a lot of people and earned the respect of many. He would be a good balance to Clinton's southern base. And by sort of half staying in the New York Primary he effectively torpedoed Jerry Brown; perhaps there will be a quid pro quo.
