Meeting the other members of Archipelago was the most interesting part of the wedding for me. Stuart's beard was the most unexpected mind jolt to me. I guess I felt he was so straight that the thought of altering the "open face honesty" of a bare face with the "earthy image" created by a beard - it jolted me.
The rest of the members probably sensed my feeling that I was a 60-year-old stodgy type and didn't have the energy to keep up with late nite poker games or high leaping dancing at the wedding reception dinner - which I didn't.
My most interesting conversation: Betsy's sister Deena, a rabid anti-nuclear demonstrator from the late sixties, surrounded by two avid technical types, both of whom worked on nuclear plants or their controls (me and my brother Fred).
Most vivid memory: the elevator opening and a soccer ball flying in followed by 6 to 10 screaming 10-year-old soccer fanatics.
Image that sticks in my mind: John and Betsy being lifted up on chairs by the dancing crowd at the dinner reception.
Most punful memory: the redcoated cardinals sweeping down out of the trees in front of the cathedral at Notre Dame.
