Thank you for that wonderful card, John. All of us certainly hope he will prevail, yet I'm being realistic about it. He could very well go into full remission. He could also die from either the cancer or the treatment. I've just realized about this whole situation, that I'm the only person I can really control or do anything about. I can only make sure that all my visits with my dad are good, full of laughter and as much fun as he can take.

It's really difficult going through this. My dad was always the healthy one, shaking off flu bugs in a day. I've never seen him sick and weakened like he is now. Sometimes he is too tired to walk the block from their home to the cliffs overlooking the ocean. Other times he seems fine, with nothing but his almost bald head giving away that he's ill.

On a lighter note... About a year and a half ago, someone published The Book of Bob, a satirical poke at everyone named Bob. My brother bought it for my dad, so I made my own, filled with his famous quotes. It gets a good laugh from anyone who knows my dad! Some sample quotes (there is no claim of originality on any of these - my dad just says them all the time!):

We're off, like a herd of turtles (said at the beginning of any family trip, oftentimes switched to "turd of hurdles!")
