This is a response to Vol 6 John 8 ("Fusion Mania!")...
I just received my U of U Review, a bimonthly newspaper for alums, and it was chock full of fusion stuff. Not surprisingly, the editors were upbeat, and full of praise for Pons and Fleischmann.
The basic message was that it would take 6 to 12 months to prove or disprove cold fusion, that Pons and Fleischmann were still optimistic, and that various sectors of the university were taking this fusion stuff quite seriously. Some very real money has already poured in and all the snorting and sneering has not stopped many major companies from racing to file patents or signing confidential disclosure agreements to examine the U's patent claims.
So although I am not as optimistic as I was initially, it is still too early to give up on Fusion Mania!
