This is ONE OF 2 responses to volume 3, Paul Card Number 7 ("Restaurant Reviews")...
Paul has complained that I have overruled requests to provide non-book reviews. This is not true! In fact, if you follow this chain of cards back to its root (Volume 1 John Card 15), you will find my proposal for just such a stack!
Actually, there are several ways to accommodate other types of Reviews. One way is to create a greatly expanded version of the current Book Review stack, with separate index cards for each subject. Or we could just throw them all together into a single (more general purpose) format.
Yet another possibility is to expand the Island Quiz stack! I must admit that my original plan of using the stack to gather hundreds of quiz responses doesn't seem to be working. Most people enjoy taking the quiz but are shy about sharing their answers. So perhaps the Quiz stack should evolve to a higher level.
As a teenager, Paul participated in a fascinating desert island social experiment, and if he could uncover any relics from that time, perhaps we could incorporate them into some new experiments of our own. The six basic categories could serve as springboards to six different types of reviews. Tomás has suggested creating an interactive fiction game with a desert island setting; perhaps that could be woven in to the new stack.
Anything is possible! It will, however, take some time to design and implement new stacks. I would like everyone to participate, at first by kicking around ideas, and later by reacting to rough draft stack designs. So let's start kicking! How should we present non-book reviews? And what shall we do with the desert island stack?
(Incidentally, Robert, Roger, Holly, and Cliff still need to transmit their island quizes - push that Contribute button!)
